Ge Semiconductor Detector

This is a radiation detector using germanium (Ge) semiconductors, which detect radiations by using ionization effects in Ge crystals. The Ge detector has a very high energy resolution, and is used for spectrometry with X- and γ-rays. The Ge detector needs to be cooled by liquid nitrogen and needs to be refilled periodically. RI center also equip the Ge detector with a prevention device of liquid nitrogen evaporation that does not require supply of liquid nitrogen for long periods.
