Liquid Scintillation Counter

This is an instrument to measure radiation from a solution sample by using a liquid scintillator. The scintillator emits light when exposed to radiation, and the light emitted from the radioactive sample mixed with the liquid scintillator is measured with a photomultiplier tube. The detection efficiency is quite high, and there is no self-absorption of radiation by the sample. On the other hand, it should be noted that quenching, which decrease the detection efficiency, may occur due to coexisting substances.
